Fishing the flats poses a poetic outlook in the keys. Large schools of tarpon migrate through Key West every spring and summer. Most of the fishing done on the flats is done by sight. Casting a fly or live crab at a tarpon then watching him see, react and eat in two feet of gin clear water. This is an experience every serious angler should experience. Other species you may catch on the flats are; permit, bonefish, barracudas and sharks.
